Woman indicted on felony drunk driving charges in West Virginia

An out-of-state woman was recently indicted for her alleged involvement in a fatal crash that occurred in West Virginia back in 2015. She is accused of felony drunk driving and various other criminal offenses. At this time, it is unknown whether any further court dates have been scheduled in this case.

According to a local report, a 33-year-old woman was indicted by a grand jury in Berkeley County for a serious hit-and-run crash that occurred in July 2015. Police claim the the accused struck a car from behind with her SUV, then struck a utility pole and a wall. When authorities arrived on the scene, they say that the SUV was on its side and badly burned. Two women were found deceased in the back seat of the vehicle. It is unknown whether any of the occupants in the other car were injured in the wreck.

The accused and another female were reportedly found being treated for injuries approximately 3 miles from the crash site. Authorities claim that the driver refused to take part in field sobriety testing, and, at one point, she tried to leave while police talked to the other woman. The accused has been charged with felony DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing from police and reckless driving -- among various other charges.

If convicted on the felony drunk driving charge and the many other charges filed in this case, the accused could face life-altering consequences -- such as imprisonment and significant fines. While cases of this nature are not taken lightly in West Virginia, the accused does have the right to a criminal defense and the ability to pursue the best possible outcome for her circumstances. With the assistance of counsel, this individual can review all of her legal options and determine the course of action that is most fitting.
