On any given day, it is not uncommon to see law enforcement officers patrolling the roadways of West Virginia. These individuals have been charged with keeping the public safe and should be commended for their efforts. Part of their jobs is to keep an eye out for those drivers whom they believe are exhibiting signs of impairment, and the time police have spent doing so has resulted in numerous DUI arrests over the years.
Several deputies in Berkeley County were recently recognized for excellence in DUI enforcement. One of them is even said to be one of the top enforcers in the entire state. Earlier this year, these individuals were also honored along with many officers from around the state at the Highway2Enforcement Conference.
The job these men and women have to do is in no way an easy one, but that does not mean that the arrests they make are the only be-all and end-all of their efforts. It is unfortunate that many seem to believe that it is impossible to successfully fight accusations of impaired driving after being arrested, but this could not be further from the truth. There are actually several defense options that may prove beneficial to those accused drunk driving in court.
At the end of the day, West Virginia residents who have been arrested may question whether law enforcement officials had sufficient causes in performing the arrests.
